I just invite my friends to a party and join an empty server you can also make a party and use matchmaking to put you in a server with specified conditions like friends only but as of right now the only way to host your own server is hosting a dedicated one not sure if listen servers will be a thing in the future or not but until then i just find servers that have good ping difficulty. Make sure you re both added friends on epic games too btw.
