Our knotty pine does not follow the industry standard nelma grading system but instead exceeds its requirements to give you the best pine floor available. Thick x 5 1 8 in. Dry oozing knots in freshly cut pine with a heat gun. If you find any hold a heat gun 6 8 inches 15 20 cm away from the spot and wave it back and forth for 20 30 seconds.

Wide x random length solid hardwood flooring 23 3 sq. White pine is the most sought after species of pine because it is very easy to work with and is known to not split as easily when nailing. Select d grade pine lumber is not as fine in appearance as grade c but maintains a similar level of structural quality. We hold our floors to a higher standard.

As larch ages its colour changes to a beautiful silver grey. It s another one of our nail it up and your done products. The dried knot is smaller than the knothole and sometimes falls out during handling or machining as nothing can be done to prevent the loosening of dead knots during drying. Best choice when a knot free solid board is needed.

The minimum requirements for select c grade only allow for a single half inch knot per 4 feet of surface area. Select d grade allows one tight half inch knot for every foot of surface area. Longleaf southern pine or heart pine is known for its dense amber heartwood. Thick solid plank flooring is milled with a tongue and groove.

It can be clear knot free with a tight straight grain or it can include more character such as small or large knots. Can be primed and painted stained or coated with polyurethane and many other finishes. Inspect the surface of the wood closely to look for knots that are still releasing resin. Less shrinkage and swelling than most fake wood products.
