I am installing 3 4 oak on a 1 plywood sub floor.
Leveling compound for nail down flooring.
Maybe some one else here has used it in that.
Once the compound reaches a creamy consistency pour a thin layer into the sunken sections then smooth out inconsistencies with a hand trowel.
Plan to correct gaps of more than 1 8 to 3 16 inch.
I used a self leveling compound to fill a 1 4 plus dip in my hallway over a distance of about 4 feet.
To level a floor start by removing the existing flooring.
Then mix leveling compound according to the instructions on the package in a large bucket.
Mark the high and low spots on the subfloor.
As far as i can see none explicitly state that the wood flooring can be nailed down through the levelling compound into the subfloor.
It turned out perfectly flat and level and tapered nicely on all edges.
It is important to caulk around all the edges and seams prior to applying the self leveling compound.
If an engineer found no structural issues you may be able to level the floor by applying a cement based self leveling floor product such as henry level.
Direction of the flooring should be installed at a 90 degree right angle to the floor joists.
Determine a starting wall.
I am installing a wood floor and have some areas of the plywood subfloor that need to be levelled prior to installation of the wood floor i have looked at a number of products such as mapei planipatch.
You do not want the self leveling compound dripping out or down below especially if you are applying it to a second floor room.
Expansion gaps of 3 4 are required between flooring and all walls in room.
Top nail it down and drive a couple staples in it see if it holds.
